Another step

Last week, I found myself in a boardroom of the cultural federations of Nova Scotia, giving a presentation on my career, on the work I have done since I began studying jewellery design in 1999. It was an incredibly interesting exercise to gather the photos and timelines for this presentation.

I felt somewhat terrified to give this presentation
I felt somewhat terrified to give this presentation

I hadn’t really realized that I have been working with metal for 15+ years, hadn’t really thought as a whole of the mentoring I have done, the exhibitions I have participated in, the books that published my work. It was so interesting to see the progression, culminating in my latest work, several one-of-a-kind pieces which I created earlier this year (see here and here).

I gave this presentation in front of the Standards Committee of the Nova Scotia Designer Crafts Council. And while the exercise of putting the presentation together was very enlightening to me, what was even more exciting was the result of that hour in the boardroom: I am humbled to say that I was officially granted the Nova Scotia Designer Crafts Council’s title of Master Artisan!

    • Thanks, Damian.
They made a decision in a meeting after the presentation. I then got a call with the good news :)
