*Caveat on using the term “recycled gold”:

While I am very careful to source my precious metals only from SCS® certified suppliers (SCS® stands for Supply Chain Sustainability; they are the global leader in the field of sustainability standards and third-party certification). Most of my precious metals suppliers are also members of the Responsible Jewellery Council. However, I want to point out that ‘recycling gold' is not what is commonly understood by the term.

True recycling avoids things ending up in landfills. Gold, of course, wouldn’t.

Instead, gold is simply melted, refined and repurposed.

Although SCS® certified refineries must maintain auditable records of their suppliers, there are loopholes globally which make it very easy for gold from unregulated and/or illegal sources to enter their supply chain.

This makes even 'certified recycled' gold untraceable.

West Vancouver

I am so excited to be back in the studio after my Vancouver Summer Show, the Harmony Arts Festival. This lovely event is held on the shores of WestVancouver, and includes not only artisans of high calibre, but also lots…

Exhale

I snuck away. Very far away. An almost silly 30 hours travel far away, to the remote lake Atitlan in rural Guatemala. A friend of a friend had moved there, among a fairly well represented expat US/Canadian community. Otherwise, I…

Vancouver, Toronto, Halifax

Ah, it’s that time of year again: time to bring the pieces I make out of the studio, and meet my clients in person at shows, Coast to Coast. This year, I will have 3 stops: Vancouver, Toronto and Halifax. …

Thank you, Vancouver!

Thank you so much, Vancouver. Although slightly weighed down by the haze from the interior BC forest fires, the Harmony Arts Festival was once again a joyful event. I just love being in the company of such good fellow craftspeople…

Appreciate

The first weekend of Harmony Arts Festival in West Vancouver just ended, and there are now a couple of days of rest for the artisans, while other activities continue at the festival. I look forward to returning on Friday for…
