*Caveat on using the term “recycled gold”:
While I am very careful to source my precious metals only from SCS® certified suppliers (SCS® stands for Supply Chain Sustainability; they are the global leader in the field of sustainability standards and third-party certification). Most of my precious metals suppliers are also members of the Responsible Jewellery Council. However, I want to point out that ‘recycling gold' is not what is commonly understood by the term.
True recycling avoids things ending up in landfills. Gold, of course, wouldn’t.
Instead, gold is simply melted, refined and repurposed.
Although SCS® certified refineries must maintain auditable records of their suppliers, there are loopholes globally which make it very easy for gold from unregulated and/or illegal sources to enter their supply chain.
This makes even 'certified recycled' gold untraceable.

Flow Pendant No. 20
I enjoy creating circular pendants in this Series, This one almost looks as if it were fabric ‘gathered’ at the top.
Again based on the idea of Enzo/Ensō (Japanese for “circular form”) symbolizing the completion of something, wholeness, or the Zen state of original, pure mind. A golden reminder of one’s inner balance.
Created originally in wax (a mixture of beeswax and pine resin, to be precise), and then cast in lost-wax casting method. The ancient Japanese technique of Mitsuro Hikime is challenging and takes its sweet time. I first fold the wax over itself again and again, pulling it into longer and longer length in between folds. Eventually the variant tensile strengths of the two materials pulling against each other creates the rich texture of the FLOW Series.
One the wax is complete, it is cast in 18ky certified FairMined gold, which is mined at the Iquira Mine in Columbia. This gold is traced meticulously from mine to maker, and audited by 3rd parties. The artisanal miners and their communities directly benefit :
• Fairmined Premium for social, economic and environmental development
• Guaranteed minimum price for workers
• Better trade relationships
• Safe working conditions
• Small-scale operations with minimal environmental impact
• No link to conflict zones
• Rehabilitation of native ecosystem
With the purchase of this pendant, you improve lives. This truly is Gold To Be Proud Of.
Of course there is room to customize this pendant with the addition of a diamond or other gemstone. Get in touch if you want to discuss that idea.
Note: the pendant is shown here on a gold chain, sold separately.
