All jewellery is handmade and shipped from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, and therefore is exempt from tariffs for USA customers under CUSMA, the free-trade agreement. I always ship with a certificate of origin for customs.

*Caveat on using the term “recycled gold”:

While I am very careful to source my precious metals only from SCS® certified suppliers (SCS® stands for Supply Chain Sustainability; they are the global leader in the field of sustainability standards and third-party certification). Most of my precious metals suppliers are also members of the Responsible Jewellery Council. However, I want to point out that ‘recycling gold' is not what is commonly understood by the term.

True recycling avoids things ending up in landfills. Gold, of course, wouldn’t.

Instead, gold is simply melted, refined and repurposed.

Although SCS® certified refineries must maintain auditable records of their suppliers, there are loopholes globally which make it very easy for gold from unregulated and/or illegal sources to enter their supply chain.

This makes even 'certified recycled' gold untraceable.

Flow Ring No. 38 in Fairmined 18k Yellow Gold, size 6.5

Flow Ring No. 38
Size 6.5

With its broad width and clear wrapping, this one also would make a perfect ethical wedding band. The comfort of the wrap, the texture of a ribbon which binds two into one, a circle completing.

Created in the ancient Japanese technique Mitsuro Hikime: a mix of local beeswax and pine resin – you can’t imagine how glorious the studio smells when I melt together this fragrant mixture! Working exclusively and carefully by hand and at body temperature, aI stretch and fold the wax again and again until eventually the distinct striations form in its surface from the tension between resin and wax.
The technique is fickle, though, and I make many, many wax versions before the perfect ones comes into existence, worthy of being cast in the most ethical and sustainable gold I could find.

Applying a lost-wax method – the wax is ‘lost’ during the casting process and cannot be re-created – means that each ring exists only once.

Casting these in ethically mined gold is the perfect fit: a unique, handcrafted, ethical wedding band or simply a warm hug of 18k Fairmined Gold To Be Proud Of. I am proud to have been one of the first Canadian goldsmiths who are licensed to work with it, which improves the lives of the artisanal miners and their communities by supporting and monitoring stringent environmental and social standards.

Fairmined is an assurance label that certifies gold from empowered responsible artisanal and small-scale mining organizations. It transforms mining into an active force for good. This gold is traced meticulously, and audited by 3rd parties. Feels good, right?
