Now this is a special one in many respects. The 4.5mm sapphire is absolutely gorgeous. But what is even more interesting and unusual is that this 18k gold is certified to be conflict free, mined by small-scale artisanal miners. Tracing gold all the way to the mine is an incredibly hard-to-find certification still. But if you have heard anything about gold mining and the terrible things it can do to land and people, you will want to try to get your hands on some – or some on your hands. Gold is now where fair-trade coffee and chocolate was at the beginning – it is still very difficult to find. But I did, after I had attended the gold conference in NYC and my eyes had been opened to the perils of gold mining. You can read more about this on my blog, here.
That, and a sapphire of this quality (from my trusted suppliers Pierres de Charme) – how can you resist?
