As promised, I’ll share a bit about the fabulous Opening Party of The Dunes Gallery.
I decided at the last minute to take the four-hour drive, including crossing the Confederation Bridge, to Prince Edward Island (if you have not done so before, do check that bridge out, at least by clicking on the link here;)
What can I say: I love road trips! Especially with a friend: the whole thing was the idea of my friend Judy Anderson founder and owner of Fireworks Gallery. We had a wonderful time, sharing not just driving, but stories the whole way.
And boy oh boy: am I glad I went! Peter Jansons, the designer, ceramicist, visionary and owner of The Dunes Gallery, knows how to throw a party! I am guessing, but I’d say there were well over five hundred people in attendance. Drinks and delicious hors d’oeuvres were served, and Peter was right in the middle, meeting clients, artists, and friends. It really was a fabulous and elegant gathering.
I didn’t get a good photo of the crowds (no room to actually lift my camera!), but you can get a sense of how many people were at the Opening Night party, by going to The Dunes Gallery Facebook page.
The following pictures are a bit misleading as to the amount of people who where there. In this photo, you see Jim Aquilani of Vitamin Sea Studio (in the white shirt). We met much later that evening, and talked jewellery design.
The wildest things can be found in this garden.
A big draw every year is the Fashion show of the creations of Nash Aulia Anas.
Later in the evening, the owner Peter Jansons invited some guests to “The Muse”, which is the inner sanctum of the building, upstairs from the gallery, above Peter’s ceramics studio. I had a wonderful exchange with jewellery artist Frances Painchaud of Emerance, who had come all the way from Îles-de-la-Madeleine, where she creates sea-inspired silver jewellery.
The space is so beautiful, enhanced by Peter’s attention to every detail – he does all the flower arrangings himself, in the fabulous vessels which he creates himself, too!!
You’ll have to come by his gallery to check them out.
And I can’t leave you without this image taken late in the evening off the deck of The Muse, surrounded by a roof-top pond with fountains, high above the gardens:
My next post will be about a wonderful meeting of friends at The Dunes Opening.
