I am completely blissed out: I am at SOFA Chicago – Sculptural Objects and Functional Art: World’s Foremost Fair of Contemporary Craft and Design. This is probably the best show internationally, with the highest quality work, anywhere. Europe has comparable shows, but this is certainly IT for this side of the Atlantic. To be perfectly clear: I am not showing, just observing (and learning). To put it in perspective: a booth here costs about $50,000. No kidding.
Well I won’t say much more now, as I will continue to go through the aisles and soak up all this beauty, including the fact that there are, actually, people here who enjoy and buy this art!
Let me just say this: I have had the dream of coming to see this show ever since I first heard about it in art school. Arriving here, at the Opening Gala on Thursday night, I actually wept.
I really feel that i have arrived at a milestone here. I am in heaven.
