OneFooter Ring in Fairmined™ Sterling Silver

$290.00

This ring is now made with Fairmined™ 930 Sterling Silver.*

The OneFooter ring is my signature piece. Here it is forged from a one foot length of sterling silver. Wrapping around the finger in a continuous spiral, the forged metal finds its own way uniquely with every ring I forge. Each refined wrap-ring beautifully intertwines the loops of silver differently. No two rings are ever the same.

I compare the process of wrapping the forged strand to a conversation between the metal and the maker: much like when raising children, I can give the metal direction, but it finds its own way.

In its OneFooter version, this spiral ring has 5 loops.
Average width is about 1cm (ca. 3/8″).

*Fairmined™ is a standard for ethical and sustainable silver and gold that assures strict environmental and social standards. See Above and Beyond “Recycled” Silver and Gold. I originally made these in 100% SCS-certified recycled sterling silver. As I learn more, I continue the journey to implement more and more ethically sourced metals.

930 purity refers to the amount of fine silver in the alloy. Pure silver is way too soft for jewellery; it needs to be alloyed with other metals to strengthen it. 930 silver means that 930 parts out of 1,000 is pure silver – the rest is copper. Similarly, 925 sterling silver contains 925/1000 parts fine silver.

This batch of Fairmined silver is traced to the source. It was sustainably mined at the Iquira mine in Columbia. Know where your metal comes from, know the good it does!

Limited sizes are available in the original recycled 925 sterling silver for $220. Please contact me for details.

Also available in 18k yellow or palladium white gold, as well as with a diamond or other precious gemstones.
