Oh dear oh dear. Yet another tragic, unfathomable death in my circle of friends. So senseless. What a huge loss. And best hugger, ever.
There is so much to say about Raymond, and the story of his brutal death has such huge reverberations. Hear the raw poem of Halifax’s poet laureate Tanya Davis: “For Raymond, and for all of the Raymonds, which is to say: for everyone”.
There are many tributes and a short radio interview on CBC.
In yesterday’s Chronicle Herald, Carol Millett was quoted as saying that Ray “was all about love and compassion. he would have hugged (his murderer’s) family (in the courtroom) today because that’s the kind of person Raymond was. He would have been sympathetic, I think”.
I want to quote Melvin McLeod, editor in chief of the Shambhala Sun magazine, who wrote “In Raymond’s honor, we all could do what we can to pacify the pervasive and too often accepted atmosphere of aggression, fear, and intolerance of difference that contributes to the death of such a good person“.
Wishing you a good passage, Raymond!
