One-of-a-Kind #178 ||
Size 9.25

I am very very fond of spinel, I must admit. Usually the red kind. But I somehow fell for this one, and I must say I like the resulting ring quite a bit. You can see from the photos that the colour of the stone changes depending on how the light hits it. It makes the ring very mysterious. And the way I ended up putting the 18k gold setting into the sterling silver ring makes it somehow have a regal quality, I find.

Spinel with its bright vitreous lustre, and excellent toughness and stability is just an awesome stone. Its chemical composition is close to that of corundum (sapphire), and in such it is equally well suited for jewellery, particularly rings.  This one would be hard to make again, as I am not sure I would be able to find such a stone again.
