Spinel is one of my favourite stones right now. This very sparkly gem comes in many colours; my favourite is this colour red. I am particularly fond of the combination of spinel and 18k yellow gold. It has something so regal about it! This cushion-cut spinel has an inclusion. It is not oil-filled, as more commercially available stones might be. This refined spiral ring beautifully coils its loops of gold.

«Historiquement, le spinelle était souvent confondu avec le rubis. Les deux pierres se trouvent souvent dans les mêmes mines, elles se ressemblent et ont des compositions chimiques similaires; ce n'est qu'au XVIIIe siècle que le spinelle a été correctement identifié comme un minéral distinct. En raison de cette confusion, de nombreux «rubis» célèbres sont en fait des spinelles. "
