Some of my readers may remember when I wrote about my emotionally impactfull visit to my mother’s bedside in Germany last year. She had been riddled by Alzheimer’s disease for years.
It is with sadness and relief that I announce my mother’s passing. Yesterday, she had been taken outside for a walk in her wheelchair after lunch. When the nurses came to wake her a little while later for “Kaffee und Kuchen”, her spirit had already left her tired body. Just like that.
Along with my siblings, I am tremendously grateful that Mama was able to go so peacefully and so quickly. I would have liked to have been there for her to help her make the transition. But also, I don’t think that, at this point, she was very attached to her body, and thus I believe there was no struggle.
How do I feel about it? I can’t quite tell that yet ….
Ah, my dear. How very sorry we are to hear of your mother’s passing. Alexandre and I send you big, long, warm hugs now and will give
them to you in person when we next meet.
With love and sincere condolences,
Alexandre and John
Thank you kindly, gentlemen.
